Description
Agricultural development economist specialized in soil and water conservation. Worked for FAO in Tunisia, Kenya, Rome and Jamaica (1974-1982). For Development Economics group in Wageningen (1982-84). For KIT (1984-1991), partly in Indonesia (1986-1990) and for Erosion and Soil and Water Conservation Group in Wageningen. Wrote books on Economics of Coffee (1986), Soil conservation and Sustainable Landuse (1990), The Price of Soil Erosion (PhD, 1996). Editor of 2 other books. Participated in interdisciplinary research project in Burkina Faso (1991-1998), in EROAHI project in East Africa (Kenya and Tanzania; 2002-2005), and in Agroforestry and Soil Conservation training project in Rwanda (2005 onwards). Supervising PhD students from among others Tanzania, Ethiopia and Rwanda. |
