Description Since my own study at the University of Utrecht I have been interested in developmental processes in the Third World, especially in those in Africa south of the Sahara (Mali, Cameroon and Zimbabwe) and in North Africa and the Middle East. My focus, knowledge and experience concentrate on rural questions, rural and urban livelihoods, rural-urban relationships, development co-operation issues, but also on urban growth processes and economic activities. Recently a common publication (with the Cameroon counterpart) has been rounded off on rural transformation processes in central Cameroon. Also recently research time has been dedicated to activities in the framework of a large multidisciplinary research on the Effects of Climate change on semi- arid areas with special attention for urban and rural livelihood activities (ICCD-CERES). Through the supervision of student research and internships recent developments in Mali with respect to rural and urban transformation are actively followed. | ||
