Description Doris Muhwezi Kakuru was born in Ntungamo district in western Uganda. She holds a PhD in social sciences from Wageningen University (2006). She did her PhD research in Uganda focusing on HIV/AIDS, rural livelihoods and gender equality in primary education She obtained her Master of Philosophy degree in Social Anthropology from the University of Bergen (2000). Her M.Phil. research focussed on gender and family studies. Specifically, she looked at how gender relations play out in the process of family management. She also holds a Bachelor of Social science honours degree from Makerere University (1996). She is a member of the academic staff and affiliated researcher at the Department of Sociology, Makerere University where she teaches sociology of education. Her areas of research interest include issues of gender and education, social justice, family studies, livelihood studies, and competence studies. | ||
