Additionally, the effects of water quality and shoreline change are examined in depth. The human pressures that threaten the long-term integrity of these natural endowments and management actions to address them are highlighted. These include overfishing and over-harvesting of resources, pollution from industry and cities, clear-cutting of forests, destructive fishing techniques and coral bleaching. With proper management, it is likely that the coastal environment can recover to full health.
