Abstract
The thesis discusses the relation that holds between the two negative markers in Fe'fe' in the light of recent proposals on negative concord. According to these theories, there should be a distinction between the syntactic and the semantic negator. The question this thesis answers is whether the two distinct negative markers of Fe'fe' can be assumed to function one as the semantic negator and the other as the syntactic negator. After examining the negative concord system of Fe'fe', the conclusion reached is that the clause final negator does not play any of these roles, but instead functions as a negative focus marker. |
