Abstract
This study investigates whether hostel students and their friends influence each other's attitudes towards school work and academic achievement to a greater extent than day school students and their friends by considering the answers to a questionnaire carried out amongst a hundred grade ten students at a school in South Africa. Although the data do not show any more significant similarities in the opinions of the hostel students and their friends, they do perceive their friends to be more influential than day school students do. |
