Abstract
Abstract - English This report, Neo-Salafism in Somalia, seeks, through an analysis of the hegemonic situation in Somalia, to come to a deeper understanding of the long civil war in Somalia's future continuation or phasing out. The project has a special focus on the neo-salafist group Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mujahadin being treated as the exponent of the neo-salafist constellation in Somalia, since this group is conceived as being the weaker party in the conflict with the contending constellation, with the government as its exponent, which has international support. Since the al- Shabaab group's position is supposed to be the more difficult and therefore most vulnerable to the consequences of the hegemonic situation, the tendencies that could effect al-Shabaab are giving special attention. To get closer to achieving a significant understanding, the project has included theoretical elements that, according to radicalization theory, have a special significance in terms of whether there is support for neo- Salafist organizations among the general population. The project concludes that, on the basis of the analyzed empirical data, are tendencies that indicates that the civil war in Somalia isn't being phased out, especially because of trends that suggest that the hegemonic constellation with the government as an exponent is not regarded as being conceived as universally legitimate, that it creates resistance to its rule and finally because it contains pronounced conflicts within the constellation. |
