Abstract
International audience - Talking about writing in sub-Saharan African cultures may seem surprising. Indeed, these cultures are mainly known as a carrier of an oral tradition. In fact it sits side by side, written as revealing, though less known. Mainly driven by artistic creation, the written tradition is not easily accessible and, until today, it is difficult to defend the hypothesis of a literate Africa. But African societies have not finished to reveal their treasure, especially in regard to artistic creation. It must end with a number of peremptory assertions. Writing is an artistic creation in sub-Saharan Africa, as well as the art is also expressed by known and engraved texts. |
