Abstract
This thesis looks at the reasons for intervention in Libya and for non-intervention in Syria during the Arab Spring. Two hypotheses are tested, one concerning the upcoming norm Responsibility to Protect (R2P), and one concerning geopolitics. Both hypotheses are tested by looking at the decision-making process of the United Nations Security Council, and in the conclusion is presented which one is best applicable to the cases of Syria and Libya. |
