Abstract
Recent years show an increasing number of sub-Saharan migrants have decided to settle in Morocco and on the surface no longer seem to regard Morocco as a transit state, but as their country of destination. In the same vein, sub-Saharan migrants still harbour the desire to one day reach Europe, even though they are no longer endeavouring on a daily basis to cross the Strait of Gibraltar in order to reach Europe. As such, sub-Saharan migrants are no longer 'passively stuck', but rather have to be perceived as 'actively waiting'. |
