Abstract
This thesis is a study on social media usage during the 2018-2019 Sudanese Revolution, providing a study of regional and local change in the nature of revolutionary politics in the 2010 period. By providing a preliminary study into the nature of online activism within the Sudanese diaspora and revolutionaries in Sudan, held in comparison to the 2013 Sudanese Uprising and the 'Arab Spring' period, this study argues that social media was a weaponised tool aiding in the carrying out of a thus far successful popular uprising. In addition, through its comparison it highlights that the 2018-2019 Sudanese Revolutionaries looked to their recent regional and local past to adapt their techniques for success. |
