Abstract
This is the report of the nutrition monitoring mission, implemented November 2-10, 2020, with the aim to assess the progress of the Human Capital Development project (HCDP), implemented by UNICEF Rwanda and funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (EKN) in Kigali,Rwanda. The Human Capital Development project is implemented from January 1, 2017 to31 December 2021, including a 1 year budget neutral extension. The Human Capital Development project is the second phase of an earlier project funded by the EKN Kigali, broadly known as the 'EKN project', and also implemented by UNICEF, that was targeted at reducing stunting levels in Rwanda, This project ran from October 31, 2013-December 31, 2016. Important difference between the two projects is that the earlier EKN project was oriented explicitly at the reduction of stunting and had children <2 years of age (first 1000 days of life) and their parents/caregivers as target population. The Human Capital Development project is aimed at Early Childhood Development, and is characterized by a target group consisting of children <6 years of age and their parents/caregivers. Due to the global Covid-19 situation, the Nutrition monitoring mission 2020 could not be performed as a real-time visit to Rwanda and to the districts due to global travel restrictions. For this reason the mission interviews and meetings took place in a virtual, online way. |
